Latest Updates from Our Project:

Shipping schedule for this month, Arch Caps, Columns, and Paint progress.
over 3 years ago – Sun, Sep 06, 2020 at 01:47:26 AM

Hello Backers,

Thank you so much for hanging in there this long, I know many of you have been asking for the update. We also know many of you have been very frustrated with the 1 year delay!

We were hoping to get one out sooner, but wanted to make sure we had the correct answers for shipping, before we posted this update. It was all dependant on how the mold making was coming along. We have shot all the A-Wall Caps needed, and are shooting the Arch & BA Caps now. They are a much lower quantity then the A-Wall caps were, so they should be done by Friday. We are in the middle of design tweaks to the tool paths for the Columns and are cutting pieces for the mold now. So we should be doing test shots of the Columns in the next week and a half. Everything we planned on shipping for wave 1 has been made except the Column, which we will be shooting in the next couple of weeks. We are packing the unpainted stuff as it comes off the machine and are packing orders. That way when the Columns start coming out of the machine we will be packing them up, adding them to the already packed orders. The pieces that need to be painted, head to the paint department, and will be packed once painted.

Shipping

The original plan was to ship everything out at the same time, but we have decided to ship out the domestic unpainted as the orders get pulled, instead of having them sit around until the painted domestic orders are packed. All international orders will be shipping out together painted and unpainted, as they are palletized, and shipped to Quartermaster Logistics to ship out to the corresponding locations. Here are our current plans for shipping:

Sept. 25th Domestic unpainted orders will begin to ship out as the Columns are added to the already pulled order. Shipping direct from our Benicia Warehouse.

Domestic painted orders will begin to ship as the orders are finished. We will have a more accurate date for this as we get closer to the 25th. Shipping direct from our Benicia Warehouse.

International unpainted and painted will be sent off to Quartermaster once all all of the painted orders are completed. We will have more info on this as well as we get closer to the 25th.

Yes way way way overdue, but we are finally at the stage to start shipping! This month with be the busiest of them all as there is mold making, shooting parts, painting, and packing all going on everyday. We will be looking to pick up some extra help starting next week to help with all of this.

 Arch Caps

The Arch Caps came out great, there has been a lot of interest from backers to see a little more of the process of mold making. Here are some photos showing the Arch Cap slider tips and steps to create the texture on them.

Here is a shot of the finished Arch cap on top of the Arch with the Portcullis.

Here is a shot of a piece of aluminum in the vise that has been cut down to begin the process of becoming a slider tip for the mold texture of the Arch cap.

The same piece has now been cut down to the shape need to fit into the mold insert and holes have been cut so that the tip can be bolted to the siders.

We then remount the tip facing upright in the vise to cut the texture.

Here are the two slider tips mounted in the mold, which slide together when the mold closes to create the caps which you see in the photo below!

We will make it a point to show more of this process in future updates.

With the ability to put either an Arch cap or an A-Wall Cap on an Arch, it gives you more build options, as seen below.

We also wanted to show the stackability of the cap system. Once we release the stacking cap pieces, you will be able to build in many different wall heights. The low wall for a 1" height wall, our standard 2" wall height, or any combo you want from there. You will be able to make a 3",4",6" etc.. wall build that will not just fall over when picked up or moved. This will allow you to build vertically to create more immersive layouts. Another option is to use Arch ways as upper windows, which we will be releasing inserts for in the future.

Columns

We are in the middle of making some modifications to one of the mold bodies to accommodate the ejector pins that are needed for the column mold. Here are a couple photos of the mold being rebuilt with additional ejector pin holes.     We will be posting an update in the next week or so as we get more stuff to show on the Column progress.

Painting

We will begin painting the Walls and Arches at the end of next week, now that we have the caps all shot. We are finishing up some of the other paint work first, before we shift gears to all walls, and then columns.

All pieces are being varnished to protect the paint, but also to give the stone work a more matte finish as real stone does not shine!

Here is a photo of the final Crypt Floor before it goes to the Varnish spray booth. We are very happy with how they came out. We will be showing more photos with painted builds in the next update.

Please hang in there, it has finally come together, after a long painful wait for everyone including us! We will be so happy once everyone has their Rampage Dungeons to build with!

Thanks

A-Wall Caps Test shots!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Aug 07, 2020 at 03:53:33 PM

Hi Everyone,

We wanted to give you a mini update showing the progress on the A-Wall Caps. We did our first test shots today and they came out great. There are a couple tweaks we want to make to the locking of the cap to the wall, so it's a bit tighter. Then we will finish the other 3 cavities of the mold and start shooting them!

Here are a couple photos showing the A-Wall with the cap, the second photo gives you a better view of the detail on the top of the wall cap.

We will keep you updated as we move forward and get even closer to finishing up Wave 1 and shipping it out!

Stay Safe!

Thanks

Arches & BA Walls!
over 3 years ago – Mon, Jul 27, 2020 at 02:36:43 AM

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to get this update out last week, but we ended up wrestling with the Arch mold much longer then we had expected. As we are new to molding ourselves, every new piece type we work on, is the first time we ever attempted that type of mold. I had expected the Arch to be fairly easy since we had already made the A-Wall molds, and they are some what similar, other then the large hole in the middle of it!  lol Turns out it was much tougher to get right then the wall mold was. We made the first mold and tried shooting it and we were getting stress marks, and it wouldn't release from the A side of the mold. So we went back to the drawing board, and made some tweaks to the draft angle and how the mold was engineered. We made a low resolution prototype of the new design, and it shot perfectly. So we made all 4 cavities and we are now shooting Arches!

Here is a photo of the A side of the Arch mold design we went with.

While we were redesigning the Arch Wall Mold, we cut and shot the BA-Walls, so we kept the machines running, to keep things moving.

This photo shows the new Arch Wall & BA-Wall with the A-Wall, Portcullis & Wood Door.

Once we were playing around with the finished Arch, we realized you can put the Arch and an A-Wall together to create a portal type wall!  All we need to do is create some cool portal pieces to insert into the slot. I am super happy with the new swapping of wall pieces, as its going to allow so many possibilities when it comes to building.

Here is a short video showing the two pieces together.

Excuse my dirty hands, we had just swapped out the molds before I shot this, so I was covered in grease.

At this point all we have left to finish are the Caps & Columns, before Wave 1 ships out. We have been packing non painted pieces that are finished and will start packing the finished painted stuff next week.

I will keep you updated as we knock out the Cap molds, we are hoping to have the prototypes done this week and possibly the main molds finished. We will post updates to share more as we have it.

We are getting so close. thanks for hanging in there everyone!

Current Status of Shipping, Shooting, & Painting!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Jul 08, 2020 at 01:53:11 AM

Hi Everyone,

We are getting much closer to shipping Wave 1!

Thanks to everyone that checked their addresses on Backerkit. We still have about 15 people that never finished their survey or paid for shipping, if you are reading this and that might be you, please check Backerkit. We have sent out email reminders many times through Backerkit, I even emailed some folks directly and have yet to hear back.

Outer Walls

We are getting ready to wrap up shooting the outer walls (Yes we had hoped to be done with them about 3 weeks ago). They took longer then expected to dial in and shoot. The cycle time on the walls ended up being about 10 seconds longer per shot then the floors, which is about a 3rd longer. When it comes to injection mold cycle time, every second counts, to speeding up production. The walls halves are heaver and the design of the plastic flow in the molds required a slower inject time and pressure, and longer cooling.

Here is a photo of the outer wall mold, the one on the left is the final, after we ran the 15 thousands of an inch end mill to clean up all the detail, the one on the right was before that process.

This photo is of the final outer wall next to the inner wall. They are different, so if you stack them or stagger them they it gives you a nice break up of the pattern.

All of the walls goes from the injection molding machine straight to these pallet bins, before painting and or packing.  Each bin holds about 40k wall halves!

So whats left before we can ship Wave 1?

We started packing orders today, while continuing to finish shooting the outer walls and painting what is finished. There are still three fundamental pieces that we need to shoot before we can ship, they are the Arch Walls, Caps to the walls, and Columns. We are just about finished cutting the Arch Wall mold, so once the shot count for the Walls is hit (which should be on Friday), we will be switching over to the Arch Molds to start tweaking and shooting. One of the biggest positives about finishing up the Walls, is it's the last really large volume, long shot time piece we have for this Kickstarter. The Arch Wall is about a 6th the quantity of the Walls, the caps are the same quantity as the walls, but a much shorter shot time due to the smaller size of the part, and the columns are about 50% of the quantity of the Walls. So production will be getting faster and faster, especially with it comes to Wave 2 quantities.

We will keep you posted every week at the progress of getting these pieces finished so we can ship. We will have orders packed with whats ready so we can just add in the items as we finish them.

Photos of the painting process!

Bakery Carts that we customized to carry 20 trays that can hold up to 250 E-Floors each. This made the process of moving from the priming area to the painting area much smoother.

Priming the Flames with white to make the color stand out!

Then a base coat of the Yellow, before taking a brush to them to add the rest.

Lining up the Dwarves and getting them ready for battle with a fresh coat of paint!

We are very happy with these final paint jobs!

Stay Safe

Thanks
